First Friday

Of course I didn’t make it to bed until after 3 a.m. again, so I didn’t get an early start as planned. I headed to a café called Daunis that served a variety or pastries and sandwiches. I ordered a croissant con el chocolat (because I’m a child and like sweets for breakfast) and café con leche. The server pointed outside and I responded yes since I wanted to sit outside. Apparently that means to go, so after enjoying my food for a few minutes I was kicked out of the table. Classic.

I scuttled back to the house, slightly embarrassed and decided to head to the beach.

It was a beautiful day to go to the sea, which is only a few blocks outside my door.

Even though it is quite warm here, the water is still pretty cold.

Later on we went back to the fair and inhaled sugar.

And then enjoyed some tapas and beer. Most of the tapas included cheese, which was my favorite part. There was bread with this ham paste and honey, cheese and salmon, brie and marmalade, guacamole, hummus, Spanish/goat/brie cheese, etc.

While they weren’t all traditional tapas, they were very good!

The eating schedule here is so different from back home. We went to dinner at 10 and didn’t finish until after 11! So late, which is probably why I’m still not on a normal schedule. Oh well. Breakfast is early and  normally before work or school around. There is a second breakfast or snack around noon, followed by a lunch around 3/4 when everyone gets off of work. We normally eat dinner here earlier than most families at 9, but sometimes it can be up until 10! It’s nicer to have a set schedule as opposed to the constant eating done in college (@kelsey).

Tomorrow we’re going camping and hiking in the mountains. The family has a site they go to about an hour north from here. Hopefully I make it back down!
