The other weekend I headed to the beautiful Balearic island of Mallorca with my friend Nerea. We were fortunate enough to be hosted by her gracious friend in Palma, who made our stay that much more amazing. We spent the entirety of our first day on a boat, zooming around the island. Starting out in the Port of Soller, we ventured through crystal waters I’ve only seen in pictures. Despite the abundance of jellyfish in some areas, we found different places to hop off the boat and snorkel in the water.
We went to another area with a small fresh waterfall that falls into the sea. I noticed a movement at the top of the falls and there was a wild goat with large twisting horns sipping water. A few moments later and a baby goat bounced up to join.
Saturday was spent exploring the busy city of Palma. We walked around and looked at all the shops packed with tourists. In the afternoon, we took an old wooden train to Soller. The ride was about an hour long with scenic views of the mountains, farms, and houses throughout the island.
Nerea and I were on a mission to find avarcas ( a leather shoe made in the neighboring island of menorca), but sadly the shop was closed.
Sunday. Oh, Sunday. You beautiful day, you. We traveled to the North part of the island to Playa de Muro. The beach there was off of a postcard. The white sand melded into the clear water in such an awe inspiring way that I couldn’t stop staring. The clear water turned to light blue, turquoise, and then a deep blue, providing a spectrum that left my jaw in the sand.
We also headed to a little outdoor bar with a full 360 view of the sun setting on the ocean. The whole area was packed with people trying to get a glimpse of the sunset. It was the perfect end to a perfect weekend.

I finally get it: Spain is perfect!
