After an incredible hike in the Swiss Alps, we headed back to Zürich. The weather continued to grace us with sun and not the planned rain.
We grabbed some gelato and headed through the old city and made our way around Lake Zurich. The waterside was full of people sunbathing, listening to music, and enjoying drinks. Even the lake was covered in people paddling around in boats. The scene was very lively and it was wonderful seeing so many crowds enjoying the nice weather.

We continued around the lake weaving in and out of crowds for the remainder of the afternoon. Unfortunately, the rain did catch up with us, so we hightailed it home for some dinner.

If we had more time I would have definitely liked to had a picnic by the lake, but just the walk was nice enough! There are also boats that will take you around as well. We walked down the lake and then took a boat back to the city center when it started raining.

The next morning, we checked the forecast in Bern. It was raining. Even the weather cam showed rain pouring into the river. We weren’t very optimistic, but headed there anyhow. Again, it was a great decision! (After this weekend I don’t have a lot of faith in the weather app)

This was our view while drinking coffee. It’s a nice (but very expensive) little cafe on the top of the hill that gives you a full view of Bern.

Lunch time! ^

So as you may know Bern is the capital of Switzerland. It is also home to three live bears! I was unaware of the close relationship that Berne shared with these animals. They are on flags, statues, and everywhere!
And let me tell you do they live the life. They have a lovely little home on the river where they can swim and lounge in the sun all day. They also hunted around the trees for some chickens which you can see in the picture above.

We spent the morning walking around Bern and enjoying the lovely greenish-blue river and sunshine on our faces. Our rental car was due back, so we headed back to Zürich and took a much needed nap.

The infamous Kramgasse Lane, which is home to many flags and embassies.

After we awoke from out naps, we walked along the river in Zürich, which is also very nice. There are lots of places to sit, relax, and even barbecue! Like the other evenings, it started to rain, so we headed back to campus for dinner.
The night/the end of my trip ended over a large pot of cheese fondue and wine for dinner. I’m ecstatic that I was able to explore so many areas in such a short amount of time in Switzerland alongside one of my great friends.
Until next time, Switzerland!
