AmsterDAMN fine

DSC_0260Since I have been in Amsterdam since Monday, it is only fitting that I write about it right before I leave…as I’m in the airport…… and post it days later.

I squeezed a lot of different activities into the past five days, so I most likely will come back to this trip, and do a separate post on Rotterdam and Keukenhof.

The last leg of my trip was exciting for a couple of different reasons. First, I’d never been to the Netherlands, so it was a chance to explore a new country. Second, I was able to see another one of my best friends, Esperanza. And third, we stayed with our friend Anjelika, who is also from the 607, so it felt homey to be with fellow Ithacans.

Anjelika was a fantastic host. She brought us to nice neighborhoods outside of the typical touristy spots. She also took us to dinner at the Hilton Double Tree, which was delicious! After drinks and dinner, we even had a rooftop view of the city.

We also hit the Pulitzer Bar, which was in a very upscale hotel. The mojitos and bitterballens (balls filled with cheese, meat, and lobster) were the perfect snack before our tapas dinner.

I put more miles on my legs this week and even managed to bike around without any major incidents (minus some Dutch woman telling me off for biking too slow/swerving).

Prepare for lots of canal photos!

The whole week was a mix of biking, yummy drinks, and the occasional stop in the Red Light District (Solely to watch the weirdos who actually go in the rooms).

^^This is one of my favorite images. I love the reflection of the buildings off the water. Hopefully my next post about the Netherlands won’t be too far off. Doei!
