Since I’ve returned to England, I haven’t really touched on the new city I’m living in–Hull. Kingston Upon Hull or Hull for short is on the East Coast of the U.K. Apparently it was named “The City of Culture” for 2017. I guess this is England’s way of taking a not so nice town and making it a more popular location. Liverpool held the same title a few years back and look at it now!

Anyhow, I’ve liked my time in Hull way more than in Leeds. There’s a nice park just one street over and you can bike anywhere in the city. The weather has also been pretty nice and I’m even maintaining my summer tan.

This weekend/week was full of food. I mean, when is it not? On Thursday we remembered last-minute that there was a bi-weekly food night festival. We headed down only to be disappointed by the four lonely food stands despite the festival’s claim of being “Covent Garden meets Marrakech.”

While I was standing in line for a falafel, Kurtis came running over with two slices of burnt pizza–yum! Apparently, we walked by the plaza full of vendors! I quickly ditched the line and we headed to the heart of the food festival. The lines were crazy long, so I settled on Indian food and a refreshing mojito.

There were fire breathers/jugglers performing on stage and even a little band playing. Despite the crazy wind and smattering of rain, the atmosphere was alive with the aroma of different foods and flow of alcohol from the prosecco stands.

We snagged some dessert and started heading home. I was being basic and taking a picture of my rainbow layered cake–which I inhaled in two minutes–when I noticed something behind my cake. A rainbow! There was a beautiful rainbow forming over the festival with a lighter second rainbow above.

The rest of the weekend was mostly uneventful. We ate some delicious tapas at a local Spanish restaurant and I had lots of wine. I also got a cauliflower cheese patty stuck in the toaster that Kurtis had to scrape out, sooo yeah. Thanks for that :D!

Saturday hit me in the head like a bag of bricks. No seriously. Now I remember why I don’t have more than two glasses of wine. Am I old???? Thankfully the cure was a massive grilled cheese, scone with clotted cream/jam, and two large glasses of raspberry iced tea. I don’t have a picture of said food because I pretty much inhaled everything, so here’s a picture of another yummy scone I’ve had in Hull.

The rest of the day and Sunday was spent lounging in the park, playing soccer, and soaking up the rare English rays of sun. Oh, and dealing with our crazy neighbors who may or may not kill me in my sleep. Long story short, they suck. And they threatened to bash me. Did I mention they’re crazy?

Anyhow, I also spent a fair bit of time reading. I’m on the last book in Game of Thrones, so I’m trying to savor reading it until the new season comes out. Although I am tempted to just re-watch the series……

Anyhow, that’s all I have for you on Hull at the moment. We also went to a pretty fun music festival a couple of weeks back here and saw Sean Paul, The Chain Smokers, Bastille, and some more pop people who I can’t remember, so here’s a photo of us from that!
