These past few months have been a whirlwind of excitement and happiness. The wrap-up of summer and beginning brought new adventures and friendships and the chance to see familiar faces and catch up. Here’s a gallery to recap the past few months, so you can get a glimpse of what I’ve done, and of course, what I ate!
As I started making my life update, I realized that one post would be wayyyy too long, so I’m breaking up it by month. Enjoy!
August
What I did: Beach, bay, and boating

With the glorious California sun shining down every day, it’s easy to take it for granted, especially during summer. Whether it was at the beach or the beach bar, I spent most of my time outside soaking up the rays (with sunscreen on my face of course, Mom!) on my giant watermelon floaty.

When we were too lazy to walk across the street to the actual beach or scooter up to the bay, we improvised with a blow up pool that lasted all of 15 minutes, but probably took the better part of an hour, getting the pump and filling the pool with air. And by filling it, I mean the air pump wheezed puffs with sounds akin to a dying fish.

Aside from some new (and wonderful friends) I was also introduced to the sweetest golden retriever puppy, Kieva, and couldn’t resist sharing a picture of her!
The group rallied and we had ourselves another bay day. The water was much warmer than back in May and the crew rowdier if possible.
Bachelorette Party
Now is when I’m really realizing how badly I’ve been slacking on my blog. Here I am writing about Katie’s bachelorette party and homegirl is already married!

I headed to New Jersey for the weekend to celebrate one of her last weekend’s as an unmarried woman. We spent the entire time lounging by the pool, drinking, and dancing our faces off.
What I ate:
Salt & Straw
I love a good lavender ice cream and this one did not disappoint! I also mixed it with salted caramel to further induce my sugar coma.
Queenstown Public House
Indecisiveness sometimes works in my favor, especially when it came to picking this fried green tomato dish complete with feta, frisee, poached egg, and a balsamic reduction.
Barbusa
I don’t think words can do this meal or restaurant justice, so you might just have to try it yourself! I know that I can’t wait to go back for another round…or three.
Homemade spaghetti with crab, shallots, and serrano chile in a rosa sauce. It basically tasted like the most delicious crab bisque poured over pasta with buttery chunks of fresh crab.
Bottlecraft

A work happy hour led me to this boozy gem nestled into its new Sorrento Valley location. I tried the Juneshine–a hard organic kombucha crafted in San Diego!
OB Noodle House Bar 1502

Good food always makes goodbyes a little easier–or at least tastier. Wished my old coworker turned good friend a farewell over pho with rare steak and Vietnamese pork belly tacos (not pictured).
Staten Island Deli

Had to throw this beaut up. Snagged it on my way to the airport. I normally don’t eat chicken, buuuuuut made an exception for this chicken cutlet sandwich with mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and thick balsamic dressing.
Baked Bear

After months of pining over these ice cream sandwiches, I finally hopped in the–normally–long line to grab a birthday cake ice cream sandwich in between a chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookie. I immediately felt sick from all the sweets, but felt accomplished to have eaten all the questionably blue ice cream.
