March Madness

Okay, so this past month hasn’t been mad in the sense that there’s been so much to do and so little time. It has driven me mad though since I spent about half of it sick. I’m very ready for this month to be over. It has felt like the longest stretch of time so far this year. I’m thankful that San Diego is getting to be its usual beautiful self again so that I can enjoy more sun soaked hours outside. Anyhow, here’s March!

How did I not know this place existed!? Din Tai Fung has international locations and thankfully one in San Diego, which allowed me to try their world famous soup dumplings. It’s 9 AM and my mouth is salivating thinking about them. To top off the meal, I also had spicy noodles, shared some garlicky green beans, and a sweet little taro bun for dessert. Yes, I will be going back and no, it won’t be soon enough.

The Last Weekend Pt. 1

The first weekend was one of the last that our little group in San Diego had together.

While I’ve mentioned many times before how lucky I am to have found such genuine and all around awesome people here, I’m sad to say that most of them are slowly moving back East/away from here. We made the most of the weekend with a grand tour of Mission & Pacific Beach full of wacky drinks/dance moves, a rainy Lahaina’s, and the most dysfunctional family dinner.

Chicago

For St. Patrick’s Day, I headed to one of the most festive cities for the occasion, Chicago. It went way too quickly and I’m sure that 48 hours does not do the city justice, especially considering that the first 24 of them were spent in a bar.

Day 1 was spent mostly dodging beer waterboards at The Hubbard Inn followed by late night dancing at VG. Notice that I don’t have any pictures of this day….it’s for the best.

Day 2 wasn’t as rough, though at this point it had been almost a day since I’d eaten. We had a quick breakfast taco at a grocery store, which initially sounded sketchy, but turned out to be ~delicious~. It was the right amount of energy we needed to take on the day.

We tried to fit in the touristy things, exploring Millennium Park, flicking the bean, walking along Lake Michigan, seeing the green river, and going to Hancock tower, but turning around because the line was too long–all the things. The day went by too quickly and before I knew it we were in the Southwest Terminal to go home.
